I began my compliance journey in the United States Navy where I served as one of the last members of the Shore Patrol. It was here where I realized my ability to retain large amounts of regulatory information and apply them to real life situations. This resulted in my promoting relatively quickly from patrolman to watch commander where I supervised a patrol section of 35 diverse backgrounds and diversities. This gave me real world experience in dealing with personalities of all different types and honed my skills in teamwork and team building. Upon honorable discharge I worked for Legal Services as a manager for a grant funded housing program. This required me to report outcomes and remember nuances in grant requirements in addition to tenants rights in multiple jurisdictions. The frequent necessity for split-attention made the transition to regulatory work seamless. I transitioned in Quality Management work and then to compliance where I quickly climbed the ranks from Compliance Specialist at a nonprofit to Senior Compliance Manager at a privately held corporation operating in a dozen states. All of this was accomplished while earning a Bachelors in Paralegal Studies, a Masters in Law and a Doctorate in Law sequentially.

 

Some of my professional accomplishments include:

• Licensure in multiple states simultaneously;

• Over a dozen Joint Commission Surveys for Behavioral Health and Home Care (two of which had zero findings);

• Several successful Medicaid/Medicare audits;

• Several enterprise risk assessments; and

• Formation of multiple privacy departments.

Presently, I am married with three children. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, road trips, and I am a recording artist. I pride myself on my ability to think outside-of-the-box to identify risks before they become problems and offer solutions that are not disruptive to teams or business operations.
